Cast your vote! - Most Beautiful Rocket of NXRS
by Kelsey Black 28 Jun '26

28 Jun '26

I think that a lot of you that were at NXRS didn't get the QR code link for Sunday/overall voting for the Most Beautiful Rocket competition. I think I have all of the successfully flown entries included. If I missed yours, please send me a picture of it, so I can add it in to this very un-scientific poll. Please only vote once, no ballot stuffing. I'll let the poll run until midnight Monday, then announce the winners and prizes for all the contests on Tuesday. 2026 Ostrich Orbit Launch details
by Chris Abbey 03 Jun '26

03 Jun '26

FYI regarding this weekends launch. Begin forwarded message: From: Brant Hendrickson Good evening OROC, We're very excited to be hosting the first ever Ostrich Orbit OROC launch this weekend in Brothers. This will be a great weekend to test out all of your almost-ready rockets for NXRS later this month 😁. The weather forecast looks very reasonable and not too hot for the weekend, which is great for a June launch. As a matter of transparency to those attending the launch this weekend, the Klamath Falls 173rd Fighter Wing will be hosting two visiting F-35 fighter wing groups, so our flying schedule will likely see several interruptions in the morning and early afternoons for all three days of our launch. We'll work with the fighter wing air management teams to mitigate disruptions to our event, but it's likely we'll see several multiple two-hour shutdowns over the weekend. On the plus-side, these intermittent shutdowns will give everyone more time to get more rockets ready to fly this weekend! See you in the sage!

NXRS 2026 and contests
by Kelsey Black 29 May '26

29 May '26

Hi all - Today we are just 4 short weeks from NXRS 2026, which runs from Thursday June 25 through mid-day Sunday June 28. I'd like to draw your attention to the contests that I propose to run at NXRS this year, pending enough interest in any of them. There has only been two of you who have submitted interest in participating in contests on the form at the OROC website. That's really not enough to go on, and as such, all contests are in jeopardy of not being run. Here's the direct link to the form. https://forms.office.com/r/rxsDietukx The link to the same form and the contest information is at this page: https://www.oregonrocketry.org/nxrs-2026-contests/ You can also find it on the homepage of oregonrocketry.org Please take a few minutes today or tomorrow to review the proposed contests and register your interest to participate. The meeting proper will be called to order at 7:30 after our usual social chit-chat time. The agenda will be approximately the normal fair, but there will be one surprise announcement you won't want to miss out on! Agenda: 1. Opening and new member greeting 2. Officers' reports 3. Launch report from AP Showers 4. Schools launch reports 5. Launch planning for Spring Thunder 6. Special announcement 7. Call for new business and closing (and yes, I'll try to get the last two months worth of meeting minutes finalized before this meeting.) https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_YmJmNWJmNWItMWEwYi00… Cheers, Chris OROC Secretary
